Jesse Torrey is the associate director of the newly merged Sexual Assault Recovery & Prevention Center (SARP) and North County Women’s Shelter & Resource Center of San Luis Obispo County (NCWS); prior to the merger, Jesse was interim director of the SARP Center. Previously, she served as a Board Member for the SARP Center and as a volunteer for both organizations.
With almost ten years of experience in the nonprofit sector and having worked as a mentor, child advocate, volunteer supervisor, and program manager of AmeriCorps,
Jesse loves being part of a professional community that believes we all have a responsibility to one another and that change is possible. She is passionate about doing work that builds community and promotes nonviolence through a social justice and restorative justice framework. Born and raised in Atascadero, Jesse earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from San Diego State and a master’s degree in public policy from Cal Poly State University. Outside of work, her passions are family, friends and food. She loves to knit, run, swim, read and cook and listen to political podcasts. Jesse lives in her hometown with her teen daughter, Olivia.
