Melissa Luke is the Domestic Violence Program Manager at Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI). For ten years, Melissa has worked with AACI in a variety of administrative roles, from community education to resource development to shelter “interior designer.” She feels extraordinarily privileged to now be managing what she describes as “the most passionate, dedicated, and compassionate team of strong women and men.”
Melissa is a second generation Chinese American, and feels very lucky to have been supported in making non-traditional career choices by her parents and techie boyfriend of fourteen years. Her commitment to this field began as a Feminist Studies major at Stanford University, with brief pit stops in Americorps Public Allies and Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County. Melissa describes herself as a foodie, a gardener, a sewist, a wannabe multi-linguist, and a Southern California exile who loves absolutely everything about the Bay Area except the Chinese food and beaches.
