Jean King is the Executive Director of One Safe Place (formerly the Shasta Women’s Refuge). With a background in nonprofit management, Jean is relatively new to the domestic violence/sexual assault field, starting her work with One Safe Place in 2011. From her experience in politics and fund development, Ms. King has extensive experience with board development, government, public and community relations. Before joining One Safe Place, Jean was Executive Director of Alumni & Friends at UC San Diego and then Associate Director of the UC Santa Barbara Alumni Association. While at UCSB, she served as a consultant to the Office of the President of the University of California. Prior to her work in higher education, Jean was Assistant Director of Finance for the “Cranston for President Campaign” in Washington D.C. and worked for the Dianne Feinstein Campaign for senator in the mid-eighties.
Jean currently is a real estate broker and owned real estate companies in Colorado Springs, CO, Santa Barbara, CA, and Redding, CA. After retiring in 2005, she and her husband moved back to her hometown of Redding. Jean and her husband have children - 3 mini schnauzers, Emma, Ellie & Ruby. She is honored to have her job and even prouder to serve OSF’s incredible clients.
